Run it Again Sam

February 13, 2008

Darn…you just missed it. The bus. The race entry deadline. Happy hour 2-for-1 specials. Sometimes it would be nice to get a second chance.

Like catching the second screening of Spirit of the Marathon. Back by popular demand, this highly acclaimed movie is making an encore appearance at over 250 theaters nationwide, on February 21, for one night only. (Canadian and other international screenings scheduled for later 2008)

Four years in the making, Spirit of the Marathon sets out to capture the heart and soul of the running event that attracts over one million runners every year. Central to the film, a first hand perspective on six athletes as they prepare for the 2005 Chicago Marathon. Deena Kastor and Daniel Njenga, two of the world’s top marathoners leave you in awe of their formidable talent. While portraits of the four amateur runners, including two first-timers are equally moving. There’s 70-year old Jerry Meyers who’s running with his daughter. Or Leah Caille, a single mom who takes on the challenge to restore her sense of self after a heart-breaking divorce.

Captivating and inspirational, don’t be surprised if you feel an overwhelming desire to whip out your sneakers and run home from the movies.

Giving you a real run for your money.
