The following mouthwatering recipe has the potential to cause temporary disruptions to diets and diet-oriented resolutions. Other studies have shown difficulty in limiting consumption to one serving during one sitting. Documented side effects include feelings of satisfaction, inner warmth, belly patting and ear-to-ear grins.

Pear and Apple Crisp

Filling:
3 Bosc pears, peeled and thinly sliced
2 granny smith apples, peeled and thinly sliced
1/3 cup dried cranberries
1/3 cup flour
1/3 cup brown sugar
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1 tablespoon fresh grated ginger

Topping:
1½ cup rolled oats
½ cup brown sugar
½ cup flour
¼ cup wheat germ
2 tablespoons ground flax seed
1 teaspoon cinnamon
½ cup melted butter

1.    Preheat oven to 375°F.
2.    Combine filling ingredients and place in 8x11 baking dish.
3.    Combine topping ingredients and sprinkle evenly over filling mixture.
4.    Bake for 45 minutes at 375°F or until fruit is tender and crisp is brown.
5.    Serve with a scoop (or two or three…) of Ginger or Rocky Road ice cream,
