Grandma Knows Best

January 16, 2008

When it comes to Grandmothers, there’s a lot to be thankful for. Where else can you find warm hugs, a mouth-watering brownie recipe and a tireless mahjonng adversary all lovingly packaged in a muumuu?

And then there’s Kim McElhinney whose Grammy Mac instilled an unquenchable thirst for adventure. A genuine cowgirl, Grammy Mac blazed her way into family history by out-riding men to win rodeos and completed a two month horseback riding journey with three girlfriends to move her horses from Wyoming to California.

Inspired by her Grandmother’s feisty spirit, Kim left her corporate job to start up Dude Girl, a fun collection of activewear for yoginis, cyclists and lollygaggers alike. Combining cowgirl sensibilities with modern styling, Dude Girl is filled with fun and practical pieces including DG Yoga Jams, Asana Tees, and Giddyup Bike Shorts. And Grammy Mac would have approved of Dude Girl’s compassionate business practices like using eco-friendly fabrics and supporting worthy causes like breast cancer research.

Dude Girl originally started as an adventure travel company and continues to offer a small array of trips for avid cyclists and runners. There’s mountain biking through Bulgaria, road biking in France or stay on this continent for a trail running adventure through Yosemite. Space is limited so act soon to get in on the action.

Giddy up.
