May 10, 2008 -Break the Silence Walk/Run for Ovarian Cancer
Support the National Ovarian Cancer Coalition’s 6th annual run and fundraiser by enjoying a scenic 5K along Washington & Old Dominion Trail. In addition to 600 runners, many participants, including ovarian cancer survivors and their friends and family members, will participate in a one-mile walk that winds its way around the town center.

May 17, 2008 - Moonlight Memorial Monument Ride
See the nation’s capital in a whole new light– from your bicycle, under the glow of moon and stars. Highlights include the Capitol, Washington Monument, Lincoln Memorial and Hains Point. Illuminated granite buildings, quiet streets and low traffic will contribute to a superb nighttime trip. Support provided by Mt. Airy Bicycles and College Park Bicycles. Bikes must have working lights. The ride is on city streets and will not be closed to traffic.

Try this hike - Blockhouse Point Conservation Park
Close, convenient, not crowded – explore Blockhouse Point near Potomac, Maryland. There are over 5 miles of trails and it’s worth the effort to hoof it to the highpoints for some great views of the Potomac. Extend your hike or make a big loop by crossing over to the C&O Canal at Violette’s Lock or Pennyfield Lock.
